FAQ

We accept approx 60  total participants each year.

Question 5: Explain about the Billeting process

Yes—absolutely! Playing on a winter team is essential to the program… we are NOT a team and do not try to take the place of your winter team. The program is intended to help you continue to play for better and better teams and provides you with the training as well as the guidance and opportunities needed to make that happen.

Question 1: Explain  your  programs “Unique Format”

Question 4 : Where do I live when I am in the DC area?

Network Hockey divides its program in  SEMESTERS  — one Summer — one Winter. The Summer semester provides all of the dynamic training portions, leaving the Winter semester free for participants to go back to their home town, or Junior teams while still receiving all of the career guidance, planning,  recruitment support and continuous performance evaluations (  game logs and video reviews).

We have family  “volunteers” who agree to house, or billet players for a nominal fee.  Most families have players either currently enrolled in the program, or are parents of participants who have taken the program and have now moved on.

Once a participant is accepted, we will be put  them touch with a “volunteer” family.. New participants will then  have the opportunity to discuss issues of concerns with their host family, to ensure that all parties are comfortable with the arrangement. Cost per week to house will also be determined at that time, but they are generally based on the rates charged by USA Hockey for Junior Billeting.

Question 9:  Do I have to come for the entire 12 weeks?

As with the above question ,the program only works if taken in it’s entirety, however, occasionally, exceptions are made on a case by case basis.

No. We do no allow participants to select only some of the services. We have spent nearly 10 years in the creation and formulation of the program and have identified the essential services which are needed for success. We therefore do NOT offer the program “ala carte”  — however, participation in the showcases is optional

Question 7:   What   specific qualifications do participants need to be considered?

All participants are evaluated individually on a case-by-case basis. However in general, participants are expected to be experienced and skilled players — A to AAA levels. We begin accepting players at the age of 12 ( on a limited basis), with the average age of a new participant being 14– 16 year of age.

The Network Hockey program offers on and off ice training, sports psychology, nutrition, as well as video tape analysis. In addition ,we provide players with  comprehensive career guidance which includes a  five- year , one-year , and six-month plan. We also offer support regarding all Junior and prep-schools tryouts, recruitment guidance, tryout support, showcases, etc. etc. so that players take the best path, and make the best decisions to accelerate their careers.
